preliminary video & Analysis

We were set a preliminary task of filming a short movie that lasts for at least 2 minutes. The Preliminary task should include the 360-degree shot, reverse shot and some dialogues which should be exchanges between the two characters.
In my opinion, I think that our preliminary task was successful because we used a variety of different shots which was required in the video and also added some more shots to make it look professional: long shot, close-up, over the shoulder, shot reverse shot etc. These shots are used to show body language and facial expression of the characters such as when the main actress was running we did LS to show her full body to emphasise how she was in a hurry and needed to be somewhere important. Also, when we did over the shoulder shot you could clearly see the facial expression of the characters. When we were filming the video, we chose a quiet place as our setting because we wanted to clearly hear the dialogue which was exchanged between the two characters. Not only that I think that our story line of the preliminary task was clear as the audience were able to understand what the story was about. From our editing you can see how we played around and tried different transitions. Thus, next time we are able to see which transitions are best suited for our final opening video.
On the other hand, I think that we could improve our video by holding the camera up right, this is noticeable during the 360- degree shot, and therefore next time we need to make sure that it’s stable and not too shaky. Despite the fact that I used to put the Ipad on top of a steady object, the Ipad was still unsteady. Also, the video wasn’t long enough, which means we didn’t meet the target that was set out as we weren’t able to maintain the time we were set. In the future, I need to make sure I look at the time as well. Moreover, when I was filming the scenes, I filmed it portrait instead of doing it landscape. This meant that the video didn’t take up the whole scree making it hard for the audience to watch it.

So, for my final piece, I need to keep in mind about which way to shoot and by putting the camera landscape, we can make the video look more professional.
